Education

Pharmacists and researchers from the Clinical Pharmacy and Toxicology department provide education to students in both the bachelor's and master's phases of the Medicine programme (FHML) and to students in the master's programme Drug Development and Neurohealth (FPN).

Educational activities

  • In the bachelor's programmes we are involved in pharmacotherapy education, in which students develop knowledge and skills in pharmacotherapeutic reasoning and prescription of drugs. We use the web-based e-learning platform Pscribe for this purpose. We also conduct expert meetings and team-based learning (TBL) sessions on various pharmacological topics.

Pharmacists participate in tutorships and serve as Learning Team Coaches (LTCs). As LTC, you guide a group of students in the bachelor's programme of Medicine throughout a whole academic year. As a tutor, you mentor tutorial groups for a block period according to the problem-based learning principle.

The department also makes a significant contribution to the development of pharmacotherapy education for the new curriculum of the Medicine bachelor's programme (BaMED).

  • During the so-called 'terugkomdagen' within the clinical internships, we provide education in collaboration with, among others, pharmacologists from UM, clinical pharmacologists and general practitioners. The following topics are covered:

    • Polypharmacy
    • Medication safety
    • Side effects
    • Toxicology
    • Pharmacokinetics
    • Pharmacoepidemiology
  • In this master's programme, we provide education on topics as:

    • Psychopharmaceuticals
    • Drugs and driving ability
