An Explainable Digital Twin for Personalised Pharmacotherapy in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Description

This project aims to develop an explainable pharmacotherapy digital twin to support personalised selection of advanced therapies for patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The digital twin will combine real-world clinical data, laboratory results, treatment history, therapeutic drug monitoring data and evidence from clinical studies. Using causal inference, target trial emulation, Bayesian modelling and machine learning, the model will estimate the expected effectiveness and safety of alternative treatments for an individual patient. The intended result is an explainable decision-support tool that can be used in multidisciplinary care and shared decision-making. The project is currently in development and subject to external funding.
