Genetics in Lifelong premature ejaculation
Description
The subject involves genetic research into sexual dysfunction in men, specifically lifelong premature ejaculation (LPE). This condition responds poorly to treatments like psychotherapy, in contrast to other sexual disorders. LPE can be successfully treated with SSRIs such as paroxetine. It is believed that LPE may have a genetic cause, where multiple polymorphisms in neurotransmitter systems contribute to the symptoms. This doctoral research aims to investigate whether these genes can be identified. The results could ultimately lead to more successful treatments for sexual complaints in this subgroup, and potentially also for the treatment of depression in other groups.
