Poster Presentation at the NVKFB-NVF Spring Conference
On April 11, Luc Derijks presented a scientific poster at the NVKFB-NVF Spring Conference. The presentation highlighted a research project conducted over the past six months by pharmacy student Amber van Woerkens at Máxima MC, under the supervision of Luc Derijks.
This retrospective study validated two clinical decision support tools (CDSTs) using ten years of real-world data. These CDSTs were developed to predict the response to vedolizumab in patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Predicting treatment response is highly relevant—both for patients, who benefit from prompt and effective therapy, and for society, given the high cost of this medication.
The results show that the CDST performs well for ulcerative colitis. For Crohn’s disease, a positive trend was observed. Based on these findings, the research will be continued in collaboration with a national IBD patient registry.
The study received highly positive feedback.
