NVZA-landkaart

The NVZA-landkaart is a platform created for and by NVZA members, aimed at sharing knowledge and providing visibility into current developments within the field of hospital pharmacy.
On the NVZA-landkaart website (https://nvza.nl/landkaart/), you will find a broad range of themes that represent the core of the NVZA. For each theme, various projects, practical examples, and applied research initiatives have been collected and categorized by hospital. All contributions have been submitted by NVZA members.

  • Position Paper: Safe Administration of Parenteral Medication in Hospitals
    – An initiative by hospital pharmacists and other healthcare professionals from sixteen Dutch hospitals.

  • Prescribing Pharmacist
    In 2018, the pilot project “Prescribing Pharmacist” was conducted. During this pilot, a pharmacist jointly consulted with an internist in the hypertension care pathway at the MUMC+ Cardiovascular Center.
    The internist made the diagnosis, while the pharmacist discussed medication adherence with the patient, reviewed experiences with previous treatments, side effects, potential interactions, and reimbursement-related substitution policies. The pharmacist was responsible for prescribing a limited range of medications.
    Patient satisfaction scored an average of 8.7. Compared to regular consultations, 80% of patients considered this a major improvement. They felt that the pharmacist made a meaningful contribution to medication adjustments. Internists appreciated the added focus on side effects, adherence, and substitution policies. The pilot demonstrated that prescribing pharmacists add value—particularly in cases where adverse effects, intolerance, and non-adherence play a significant role.
