TKI Symposium

On Wednesday, 4 February 2026, the annual TKI Symposium took place, bringing together researchers, pulmonologists, and pharmacists from across the Netherlands to exchange knowledge and experiences related to research on and treatment with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). From our department, Paul Kruithof, Maud Salmans, Sander Croes en Robin van Geel attended.

During the symposium, Maud Salmans presented the OSIBBBOOST study. This research investigates whether the exposure of osimertinib in the brain can be increased by adding febuxostat, with the aim of reducing the likelihood of developing brain metastases.

In addition, Paul Kruithof provided an update on the OSIBOOST‑2 study, which examines a more cost‑effective dosing strategy for osimertinib by combining osimertinib with cobicistat and applying a lower dosing frequency.

Alongside the scientific presentations, the symposium offered a valuable opportunity to meet nationwide collaboration partners and further strengthen the network.
