Excellent news: ZonMw grant awarded for project on adverse drug reactions

Colleagues from our department, together with their project partners, received excellent news: their grant application for the project “Early Detection and Management of Adverse Drug Reactions in Primary Care” has been awarded funding through the ZonMw programme Goed Gebruik Geneesmiddelen – Extramural Pharmaceutical Care.
The proposal was developed through close collaboration between Fatma Karapinar, Yannick Nielen and Veerle van Hulten, together with a broad consortium of partners from research and practice.

The project aims to develop a new digital module that enables patients to easily report adverse drug reactions and other symptoms that may be related to their medication use. By facilitating the early identification and reporting of these symptoms, the project seeks to strengthen the role of patients in their own treatment and support healthcare professionals in recognising and managing medication-related problems in a timely manner.
The funding provides an important opportunity to improve the identification of adverse drug reactions in primary care and contribute to the safer and more effective use of medicines.

This grant award highlights the value of close collaboration between researchers, healthcare professionals and other experts. The team is very enthusiastic about continuing this collaboration and translating the project outcomes into clinical practice.
