Personalised Pharmacotherapy and Model-Informed Precision Dosing in Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Description

This research programme aims to improve the effectiveness, safety and cost-effectiveness of pharmacotherapy for patients with inflammatory bowel disease. We develop and evaluate therapeutic drug monitoring and model-informed precision dosing strategies for immunomodulators and monoclonal antibodies, using population pharmacokinetic models, Bayesian forecasting and remote sampling. Current research includes the rediscovery and optimisation of thioguanine, pharmacogenetics, exposure–response relationships for biologicals, intravenous and subcutaneous infliximab dosing, remote monitoring and implementation within a virtual biologics clinic. The programme also uses real-world data, evidence synthesis and prediction models to support the positioning and individualised use of advanced therapies.
